Area Police
Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for details.
An important political figure stated the attack left him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
